GRANBURY (CBS11) – The Brazos River in Granbury continued to rise Thursday night forcing several residents to evacuate their homes due to flooding.
The main entrance to the community of Pecan Plantation was blocked off as rushing waters covered the bridge.
The high water levels took a toll on some portions of the neighborhood. The flood waters rose above door handles in certain pockets, consumer the lower levels of at least three homes.

“Yeah it’s in the house. I can see the curtains are all soggy. My old beds are in there, they’re all soggy now,” said Gabriel White.
White’s parents are away on vacation. He was checking up on the house.
“Well when Mother Nature says it’s going to be a way, it’s going to be a way,” said White. “Just have to wait for the water to go down, grab as much stuff as you can. Put things on the second floor.”
As the rain continues to fall in Hood County, the anxiety among residents only grows.
“There used to be a volleyball net that we could play beach volleyball on,” said Joel Nyman, a resident. “This is actually called Falls Beach. It’s actually now Falls River.”
While feeling helpless with nothing to do to lower the river levels, White said he feels thankful knowing others are not always so fortunate.
“No one was hurt, my dad had plenty of time to get out and at the end of the day, it’s just soggy furniture,” said White.
Security for the neighborhood said there were no reports of any drivers getting stranded in high levels on Thursday.
The Red Cross has set up a shelter for flood victims at 600 W. Bridge Street in Granbury.
