UDPATE 6:55 p.m. – The zebra caper is solved. The owner of a missing zebra was located and “is out loading him up right now,” Sheriff Roger Deeds said. The zebra was on the loose south of Granbury off Highway 144 near Comanche Peak. The owner lives in the vicinity.
GRANBURY (CBSDFW.COM) – A bizarre news item coming from the Hood County Sheriff’s Office New Year’s Day. Here is the brief news release:
Anyone missing a zebra?
A zebra … that’s right, a zebra … is on the loose south of Granbury, Sheriff Roger Deeds announced. The zebra has already jumped fences off Highway 144 near Comanche Peak. Where did the zebra come from? Deeds is trying to find out. Call 817-579-3307 if you know.
We talked to Sheriff Roger Deeds who tells us the zebra is small but “can leap fences like a deer.”
Deputies have called some ranches in the area to ask them if they’re missing a zebra, but so far, nobody is claiming the little guy.
Sheriff Deeds says they’d like the owner to come forward so they can help deputies capture the zebra and once caught, they just want to give it back.
